Current Programme

CURRENT PROGRAMME - UNTIL APRIL 2025
           _________________________________________________________

From the 8th of January next, contemplative prayer will continue here at 8.00 p.m. on each Wednesday night.

Due to the current weather conditions and the compacted snow and ice here which has not thawed, we have had to cancel the presentation of Rev. Prof. Eamonn Conway on synodality and the celebration of Mass thereafter by Rev. Dr. Eugene Duffy, which had been arranged for Saturday, the 11th of January 2025 at 10.00 a.m.

On Saturday, the 8th of February 2025, at 10.00 a.m., Linda Rainsberry will give another presentation in her series of seminars on ‘The Christian Vision of Humanity’. This will continue an exploration of the doctrine of creation. It will focus on two areas of the specifically Christian view of humanity. The first is on our being made in the image and likeness of God. It will explore what the scriptures and the early Church Fathers say on this topic; how this understanding of humanity underpins the divine-human relationship; and what it suggests about how we ought to live our lives. The second area to be focused on is the Incarnation and how this seismically alters our humanity and our relationship to God. This seminar will continue until 1.30 p.m. when lunch will be provided. If you wish to attend it, please let us know beforehand.

On Saturday, the 12th of April 2025, at 10.00 a.m., Patrick Treacy will give another presentation in the ongoing course entitled ‘The Integrity of Christian Life’. It will concentrate on the importance of our relationships with family, friends and the local Christian community as we reflect upon the question of to whom do I belong? This session will explore how God speaks to us through significant people in our lives and how we can develop a style of reflective prayer which enables us to draw consolation from loving human relationships. Particular emphasis will be placed on the importance of attention in relationships and on the Christian home as a vital place of personal consolation and renewal. Again, this session will continue until 1.30 p.m. when lunch will be provided. If you wish to attend it, please also let us know beforehand.
